Removal/Trade Service \- Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer (1 yr exp pref) **New Tradition Funeral Services**, Chicagoland's preferred trade service, is seeking licensed Funeral Directors \& Embalmers to join our growing team! Founded in 2012, we are a professional trade removal service that serves the Chicagoland area. While our main focus is removals, we also serve the public as a low\-cost funeral and cremation provider without owning a physical building. **Removal/Trade Service \- Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer Responsibilities:** * Pick up decedents from place of death and transport to funeral homes, coroner’s office, crematories, etc., in accordance with all state, local, and company policies, procedures, and laws. * Handle human remains in a safe and dignified manner. * Work days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The funeral industry is a 24/7 industry! * Operate a company issued vehicle safely while obeying all traffic laws. * Navigate local roads and highways in all traffic and in the dark using GPS direction apps. * Receive instructions for multiple tasks, determine the ideal order for the tasks, and complete them promptly. * Team members will be on call from home and respond to a first call when dispatched (within 15\-20 minutes). Our staff does not actively work during the full duration of their shifts. You will need to be available and local to immediately respond to a call during your shift. * You may occasionally be called upon to assist with arrangements, embalming, layouts, funeral services, etc. * Follow and adhere to all company policies and procedures. **Removal/Trade Service \- Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer Qualifications \& Requirements:** * Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Illinois * Valid Illinois driver’s license * Clean driving record * Ability to work a 24 hour on call shift * Must be able to perform heavy lifting on a daily basis. Must be able to independently load and unload stretcher with decedent who could weigh approximately 300 lbs. Must be able to independently complete removal from facility (nursing home, hospital, coroner's office, funeral home) with decedent who could weigh approximately 300 lbs. (1 person is standard for facility call; 2 people standard for residence) * Ability to follow directions, policies, and procedures with little supervision from supervisors. * Good written and verbal communication skills * Must be able to work independently. * Must maintain a professional physical appearance and on social media, websites, etc. * Must be able to perform removals in unpleasant or tricky situations (e.g. decomposition, hoarding like conditions, stairs, outdoors, etc.) **This position offers a competitive wage. Team members are paid per call completed. Additional wages made for arrangements, embalmings, etc. Full time employment can expect an average of 12\-14 scheduled days off per month. PTO begins to accrue day one of employment and is available for use after 90 days. Group health insurance is available for full time employees only. Reimbursement option for dental, vision, and life insurance. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is highly motivated and not afraid to work!** **Benefits:** * Group health insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield; 50% employer contribution toward employee only premium, with a maximum of $250 per month. * 50% employer reimbursement toward dental coverage of your choosing if desired (maximum of $50 per month toward employee only premium). * 50% employer reimbursement toward vision coverage of your choosing if desired (maximum of $50 per month toward employee only premium). * 50% employer reimbursement toward life insurance of your choosing if desired (maximum of $50 per month toward employee only premium). * PTO for full time employee is about 40 hours per year, valued at $1,125\). * Ability to take home work vehicle with reasonable personal use in the Chicagoland area when working. **Removal/Trade Service \- Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer Schedule:** * 24 hour shifts * Average of two weekends off and two weekends on per month.
