**Funeral Director**
Location: Overland Park, KS
Schedule: Onsite, Full\-Time
Pay: $25/hour
**Position Overview**
Our client is seeking a compassionate and detail\-oriented Funeral Director to support families through the planning and execution of funeral and memorial services. This role is responsible for managing the full funeral process—from initial consultation with families to service delivery—ensuring a seamless, respectful, and personalized experience while exceeding the expectations of client families and their guests.
**Key Responsibilities**
Consult with families or legal representatives to plan funeral and memorial services
Present service and merchandise options to meet family preferences
Obtain and complete required documentation including death certificates, permits, obituaries, and insurance forms
Coordinate service details with clergy, organizations, and participants
Plan, schedule, and conduct visitations and funeral services
Direct services and ensure professional and smooth execution
Prepare the deceased including dressing and casketing
Set up visitation and service areas according to family wishes
Oversee transportation logistics and ensure timely service coordination
Coordinate shipment of remains across locations when needed
Supervise team members participating in services
Maintain accurate records, contracts, and system entries
Assist with removals and transfers into care as needed
These responsibilities reflect full ownership of the funeral process including planning, coordination, service execution, and family support.
**Qualifications**
Minimum 2\+ years of experience as a licensed Funeral Director
Valid Funeral Director license in good standing
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office
The role requires a licensed Funeral Director with experience managing services, documentation, and family interactions.
**Preferred Background**
Experience working in a high\-touch, service\-oriented environment
Bilingual communication skills are a plus
Experience supporting multi\-service or high\-volume locations
Comfortable engaging with community organizations to support business growth
The position values individuals who can provide exceptional service while contributing to community presence and market growth.
**Additional Details**
This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities
Office and field\-based environment including indoor and outdoor work
Physical requirements include lifting up to 75–100 lbs and standing for extended periods
Exposure to chemicals and biohazards may occur with proper safety protocols
Ability to respond to calls outside of standard business hours is required
Approximately 10% local travel may be required
The role includes both administrative and physical responsibilities and may require flexibility in scheduling based on service needs.
