Job Description
**This is a full\-time temporary position through June 2026, with potential for extension**
Washburn\-McReavy Funeral Chapels, Cemeteries, and Cremation Services — a leading funeral service provider in the Twin Cities for over 165 years — is seeking a personable, compassionate professional to join our headquarters team as an Office Generalist. This position provides essential support to both the Detail and Death Certificate Offices, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in recordkeeping, documentation, and operational logistics. Based at our company headquarters in Minneapolis, this role interacts daily with a diverse team, providing critical coordination and support for chapel staff and Funeral Directors. Strong research skills are required to collect, verify, and manage sensitive information from external sources.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Assist with data entry, record maintenance, and internal reporting for both departments
* Communicate with families, Funeral Directors, and medical professionals to verify information for death certificates, ensuring accurate documentation and timely submission to the state database
* Resolve discrepancies or issues in death certificate processing, working proactively to find solutions
* Ensure compliance with all legal and procedural regulations regarding death records
* Obtain cremation authorizations from the medical examiner, ensuring all required approvals and documentation are secured promptly
* Coordinate logistics to confirm materials and related payments are completed and sent to chapels in accordance with the service schedule
* Backup the Headquarters Receptionist on phones during breaks and lunch
* Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive records and interactions
* Uphold unwavering professionalism, discretion, and strict compliance with legal requirements at all times
**Qualifications**
* Some post\-secondary education and a minimum of three years of office experience, or equivalent skills
* Strong oral and written communication abilities, with a professional and courteous telephone manner
* Excellent customer service skills for interactions with families, medical professionals, and government agencies
* Intermediate\-level computer proficiency, including text and data entry
* Exceptional attention to detail and strong clerical abilities
* Ability to operate both independently and collaboratively in a fast\-paced environment

**Schedule \& Location**
* Full\-time position based at our headquarters: 2301 Dupont Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55405
* Monday–Friday schedule allowing for alternating Saturdays
**Pay \& Benefits**
* Starting pay: $17\.50 per hour
