Funeral Director/Embalmer

Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and professional Funeral Director/ Embalmer to join our family owned business serving the local communities since 1961\. As a Funeral Director/ Embalmer, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to families during their time of loss and arranging funeral services with the utmost care and attention to detail.This position is responsible for providing professional, dignified care to decedents and families during scheduled on\-call periods, including removals, embalming, and arrangement support. The ideal candidate demonstrates empathy, professionalism, and the ability to respond calmly and efficiently during after\-hours calls. This is a rewarding role that requires strong interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and a deep understanding of funeral practices. Duties: \- Meet with grieving families to discuss funeral arrangements and provide emotional support \- Coordinate all aspects of the funeral service, including scheduling, transportation, and logistics \- Assist families in selecting caskets, urns, flowers, and other funeral merchandise \- Prepare the deceased for burial or cremation, including embalming, dressing, and cosmetology \- Arrange for cemetery plots, grave markers, and other burial\-related services \- Coordinate with clergy members, musicians, and other service providers to ensure a seamless funeral service \- Oversee visitations and memorial services in both our chapels and/or place of worship. \- Manage administrative tasks such as filing death certificates and obtaining necessary permits \- Provide bereavement support to families after the funeral service Qualifications: \- Funeral directing license or certification required \- Knowledge of funeral practices and customs \- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously \- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills \- Ability to provide compassionate support to grieving families \- Physiological knowledge for embalming procedures \- Proficiency in event planning for memorial services \- Sales experience for assisting families with funeral merchandise choices \- Ability to lift heavy objects (caskets) and perform physical tasks related to funeral preparation \- Sanitation skills for maintaining a clean and safe working environment Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities and qualifications.
