Why this role exists We’re looking for a **Licensed Funeral Director who can lead people**, build standards, and create a culture where the team works together smoothly—especially on busy weeks. This is a hands\-on leadership position for someone who is steady under pressure, organized, and committed to doing things the right way every time. What you’ll do **Family Care \& Case Leadership** * Lead families from first call through final disposition with clarity, compassion, and confidence * Coordinate visitations, funerals, memorials, gravesides, and celebrations of life * Maintain proactive communication and excellent follow\-through * Ensure details are executed consistently and professionally **Team Lead / Team Builder** * Set the tone: calm, respectful, accountable, service\-first * Coach and support staff (directors, attendants, admin) to improve consistency and teamwork * Create daily clarity (who’s doing what, by when) and ensure handoffs don’t drop * Address problems early—directly, respectfully, and with solutions * Help recruit, train, and onboard as we grow (as needed) **Operations \& Standards** * Keep the facility and team “guest\-ready” at all times (presentation, readiness, supplies) * Maintain workflows for services, removals, and case progression * Coordinate vendors and service partners; resolve issues quickly * Ensure Michigan compliance: permits, authorizations, chain of custody, documentation * Accurate, timely case records and paperwork completion (EDRS experience a plus; training available) What success looks like * Families consistently feel guided, respected, and cared for * Services run smoothly with strong attention to detail * The team communicates well, supports each other, and finishes what we start * Standards stay high without drama or chaos * Paperwork is accurate and completed on time Qualifications * **Michigan Funeral Director license required** (or ability to reciprocate promptly) * Experience leading others (formal or informal leadership) and a team\-first mindset * Strong communication skills—calm, clear, empathetic * Highly organized with dependable follow\-through * Comfortable with technology (email, scheduling, case management, basic reporting) * Valid driver’s license and good driving record * Embalming/restorative skills a plus (depending on your license level and role focus) What we offer * Competitive compensation based on experience * PTO and benefits package (details provided in interview) * A stable, respectful culture with clear standards * Autonomy and trust—with support from ownership * Opportunity to grow into expanded leadership across locations How to apply Email your resume to **[email protected]** with the subject line: **Funeral Director / Team Lead Application**.
