**Job Summary** We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Funeral Director In Charge to lead our funeral service operations with professionalism, empathy, and expertise. In this vital role, you will oversee all aspects of funeral arrangements, coordinate with families and vendors, and ensure that every service is conducted with dignity and respect. The Funeral Director in Charge will oversee, direct, supervise, and coordinate all aspects of the day\-to\-day operations of the funeral home, including state regulatory compliance, embalming,removals, cremations, funeral service, body preparation, visitation, services, burials, and cremations, while providing caring support and advice to families and friends of the deceased. Our business provides traditional funeral services about 75% of the time on weekends, with about 25% of services being cremation. It is mandatory that the FDIC lives in Gainesville. **Duties** * Lead and coordinate funeral services from initial arrangements to final disposition, ensuring all details align with family wishes and company standards * Provide bereavement support to grieving families, offering comfort and guidance throughout the process * Manage logistics for transportation, embalming, cosmetology, and sanitation to uphold health and safety regulations * Oversee the preparation of bodies, including dissection and anatomy procedures when necessary, ensuring respectful handling at all times * Supervise event planning for memorial services, visitations, and other ceremonies to create meaningful experiences for families * Collaborate with vendors such as florists, clergy, and cemetery staff to ensure seamless service delivery * Handle sales activities related to funeral packages, merchandise, and pre\-need arrangements while maintaining excellent customer service standards * Ensure compliance with legal requirements, health regulations, and sanitation protocols in all operations * Provide training and mentorship to staff members on funeral directing procedures, customer service excellence, and safety practices * Ensure the funeral home complies with Chapter 497, F.S. and related administrative rules. * Must maintain accurate records of preneed contracts, authorization for disposition, cremation records, death certificates, embalming case reports and transport logs. **Skills** * Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to embalming and body preparation processes * Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate compassionately and clearly in sensitive situations * Proven experience in funeral directing, event planning, and managing logistics for memorial services * Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling caskets or equipment * Knowledge of sanitation standards and cosmetology techniques used in body preparation * Experience in dissection procedures for body examination or embalming purposes * Familiarity with bereavement support practices to assist grieving families effectively * Sales acumen to promote funeral services and merchandise confidently while respecting client needs * Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple arrangements simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail Join our team as a Funeral Director In Charge, where your dedication transforms grief into remembrance.
