Apprentice Funeral Director

**Job Title:** Apprentice Funeral Director **Location:** Front Royal, Virginia **Hours:** full\-time paid apprenticeship, some evenings, ‘on\-call’ days/nights **Compensation:** competitive salary, generous benefits package **Job Summary:** This position offers an opportunity to join a great team dedicated to customer service excellence. An Apprentice Funeral Director will work closely with Licensed Funeral Directors and will be trained in the art of funeral service and embalming. To become a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer the apprentice must also complete an associate degree program in funeral service through an accredited school and pass a national and state board examination. The position requires extensive dealing with grieving families and the public, on\-call nights, driving, and lifting. The dress code is business professional and always funeral appropriate. Responsibilities include the following: * dealing directly with the public and grieving families of the deceased * transfer of deceased from place of death to funeral home * participating in all aspects of funeral service * proper care and storage of human remains * embalming * arranging for final disposition of decedent * document preparation and administrative skill training * dressing, cosmetics and casketing of decedent * answering phones and greeting clients * maintaining business schedule/calendars and email * preparing and printing service materials * maintenance of building, vehicles, grounds, and equipment * other duties as assigned by management **Requirements:** * 18 years of age and permitted to legally work in the United States * valid driver’s license * excellent spoken and written communication skills * proficiency with Microsoft Office and file management * ability to lift one hundred twenty (120\) lbs. * consent to complete background check Qualified candidates may send resumes to: [email protected] For more information contact: Torena Bar, Operations Manager Maddox Funeral Home, Inc. 105 W.
