Work Study Student (Advanced)

Locations: Hollywood Hills, Glendale, Covina, Cypress, Long Beach, Cathedral City In support of the Mortuary Science program at Cypress College, Forest Lawn’s Work Study Program provides students with the opportunity to gain hands\-on experience in various aspects of the mortuary profession. The primary objective of this program is to prepare students for a successful career in the funeral service industry. This part\-time internship allows students to learn and assist with Funeral Service, Service Arrangements, Memorial Counseling, and Mortuary operations. Responsibilities will vary based on the student’s current coursework and required clinical competencies. Modifications may be made to align with other Mortuary Science programs. **Schedule:** Up to 20 hours per week; flexible to accommodate school schedules ### **What You’ll Be Doing** #### **Funeral Service** * Assist with religious services, military honors, visitations, and vigils * Greet and usher families and guests * Distribute prayer cards and memory folders * Support traffic coordination and casket bearing * Assist with transfers of remains #### **Service Arrangements / Guest Services** * Support preparation of death certificates and interment permits * Assist with memory folders and prayer cards * Coordinate with government agencies * Interact with families during arrangements #### **Memorial Counseling** * Observe arrangement conferences * Partner with Memorial Counseling Assistants #### **Mortuary Operations** * Assist with first calls and notifications of death * Support dressing, casketing, and cosmeticizing * Prepare visitation rooms * Review mortuary\-related documentation #### **Additional Responsibilities** * Maintain a safe and compliant work environment * Uphold Forest Lawn’s standards of service and ethics * Build positive working relationships across teams * Perform other duties as assigned ### **Additional Information** * Duties may vary based on academic requirements and program progression * Placement at a specific location will be determined based on business needs and candidate preference (when possible) * Must be currently enrolled and attending the Mortuary Science program with Cypress College. * Must have a minimum of a 2\.0 GPA and be in good academic standing. * Provide proof of transcripts showing current enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcripts may be accepted). * Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs. * Must have a valid California Driver’s License .
