Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, the incumbent performs unskilled and semi\-skilled manual work, is responsible for routine maintenance, landscape installation, map reading, the operation of a backhoe/excavator, and dump truck with air brakes. Work assignment may also include but not limited to painting, mowing, barricade placement and removal, tent installation and removal. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
***Responsibilities and Reporting During an Emergency Situation****:*
***Essential Employees*** *may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.*
***Non Essential Employees*** *will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee’s Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.*
**Duties/Responsibilities**
---------------------------
* Operates necessary small equipment, including hand tools, etc.
* Maintenance and inspection of equipment to ensure it is safe and in good repair at all times.
* May be required to operate a motor vehicle to accomplish assigned tasks.
* This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee’s physical presence at the workplace
* Performs other duties as assigned.
**When assigned to Cemetery**:
* Prepares grave and setup for funerals.
* Locates gravesites, assists in record keeping.
* Landscape installation and maintenance; may include fertilizing and herbicide application.
* Maintenance of cemetery grounds including weed eating, trimming bushes and trees, and pickup of horticulture debris.
* Maintenance of on\-site cemetery office and maintenance area including, but not limited to mowing.
* Operate backhoe, dump truck with air brakes, tree trimming equipment, golf cart, and utility vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks.
* May assist in basic painting.
* Burial internments
* Restroom cleaning.
**When assigned to the Parks**:
* Landscape installation and maintenance; may include fertilizing and herbicide application.
* May assist with irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair.
* Lawn mowing and weed eating.
* May assist in street cleaning using a backpack blower.
* May assist in basic painting.
* Restroom cleaning.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
* Ability to operate necessary equipment, including push mower, hand tools and other routine equipment.
* Ability to perform work in varying and adverse weather conditions.
**Minimum Requirements**
------------------------
* One year related experience; or education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
* Must possess a valid Florida Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record, or be able to obtain one within 12 months of hire. .
* Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) Mandatory Drug/Alcohol Testing required.
**When assigned to Cemetery and Parks and Sewer Maintenance:*** Requires a tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain within twelve (12\) months of employment.
* Requires air brake or the ability to obtain within twelve (12\) months of employment.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*** High School diploma/GED preferred.

Work performed is primarily:* *Heavy work*: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally,
