Seasonal Cemetery Groundskeeper

A seasonal groundskeeper role at the Jerome Cemetery is crucial in maintaining the dignity and organization of the grounds and operations. The specific duties are burial, groundskeeping and maintenance tasks. **Maintenance Duties:** * Grounds Maintenance: Performing the maintenance of the cemetery grounds, including mowing, trimming, planting, and overall landscape maintenance. * Equipment Operation: Operating various hand and power tools, and potentially light to heavy equipment. * Facility and Equipment Upkeep: Maintaining and repairing cemetery buildings, landscaping, irrigation, and burial equipment, removing debris, and maintaining cleanliness. * General Maintenance and Assistance: * Performing minor repairs to headstones, benches, and other cemetery features. * Assisting with other tasks assigned. **Burial\-Related Activities:** · Grave Preparation and Maintenance: Preparing and maintaining burial sites, which includes digging graves and performing funeral set\-ups. Opening and closing graves. · Headstone setting **Interpersonal Skills:** * Maintaining a respectful and helpful demeanor when interacting with the public, especially grieving families, making the cemetery a place of comfort for community. * Working cooperatively with co\-workers, funeral homes, and other relevant parties. **Other Duties:** * Safety Adherence: Adhering to safety protocols and procedures. * On\-Call Availability: Being available for on\-call duty as required. Some Saturdays, evenings, and holidays may be required. **Essential Qualifications:** * Experience: * High School Diploma or GED. * Prior experience in groundskeeping or cemetery maintenance is beneficial. * Skills: * Knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance. * Ability to operate maintenance equipment, including mowers and other tools. * Strong organizational skills. * Ability to communicate effectively and interact with the public and co\-workers professionally. * Physical Requirements: * Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
