Removal Technician

To provide a high level of professionalism to individuals in transferring the deceased to the funeral home from place of death. **I. Educational Requirements** 1\. High School education or GED **Direct Responsibilities** Responsible for maintaining current and unblemished driver’s license. Coordinate with staff in making arrangements for removal and transport of the deceased. Respond to the first call for the physical removal of the deceased from the place of death. This will involve working and coordinating with bereaved family members, local law enforcement, the Medical Examiner, Hospice and various other medical personnel as necessary. Make removals in a professional, sensitive and respectful manner. Answer general questions the family might have yet inform the family they must speak with a licensed funeral director for specific information. Determine any special needs or requests of family. Communicate such to licensed funeral director. When making removals, honor the family’s wishes when appropriate. Carefully maintain all paperwork and records provided and ensure that funeral director receives such information. Ensure the dignity of the deceased at all times the deceased is in transport or is sheltered at this funeral home. **III. Secondary Duties and Responsibilities** 1\. Duties applicable to the position as required by and with approval of management. 2\. Assist colleagues with work responsibilities. 3\. Overtime as needed or required by management. 4\. Shift work as needed or required by management. 5\. Courier duties as assigned by management. **IV. Position Requirements** Rotating shift work nights, weekends, holidays Ability to handle job stress Mobility, heavy lifting, good communication skills, clean driving record, and basic computer skills.
