**Position:** Registered Nurse (RN) – Staff Nurse
**Employment Type:** Full\-Time
**Reports To:** Patient Care Manager
**Job Summary:**
As a Staff Nurse, you will provide compassionate nursing care to terminally ill hospice patients and support their families through end\-of\-life care and bereavement. You will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary hospice team to ensure continuity and quality of care in patients’ homes and hospice offices.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Assess and reassess nursing needs of hospice patients regularly.
* Provide hospice nursing services, treatments, and preventive procedures.
* Initiate nursing procedures relevant to patient care and safety.
* Observe and report changes in patients’ physical or emotional conditions to physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
* Educate, supervise, and counsel patients and their families regarding care.
* Supervise and train nursing service personnel including hospice aides.
* Develop and update patient/family care plans with the interdisciplinary team.
* Participate in team conferences and maintain required patient records.
* Follow hospice policies, maintain confidentiality, and comply with HIPAA.
* Participate in on\-call coverage as needed.
* Maintain professional skills and knowledge through ongoing education.
**Work Environment:**
* Travel to patient homes and work within the hospice office.
* Exposure to physical demands includes lifting, walking, and exposure to various environmental conditions.
* Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
**Qualifications \& Requirements:**
* Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
* Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state.
* Minimum of 2 years nursing experience preferred; recent patient contact within last 3 years preferred.
* Ability to work independently and make sound clinical judgments.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to cope with emotional stress.
* Ability to supervise nursing staff and respond to crises outside hospital settings.
* Completion of hospice training program required (or willingness to complete).
* Physical capability to perform essential duties, including lifting patients up to 100 pounds and tolerating exposure to elements like odors, blood, and body fluids.
* Must provide annual TB test and other state\-required health screenings.
* Must have a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
* Ability to adapt to diverse social, racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds.
