Part Time Seasonal Cemetery Maintenance

**Job Overview** This is a part\-time position. This position will exist at the discretion of the Cemetery Operations Manager to support the necessary cemetery seasonal grounds maintenance activities. It is envisioned that this position, once trained, shall work with minimum direction from the operations manager, regarding recurring grounds maintenance activities. This position shall perform cemetery maintenance in a fiscally responsible manner and insure that the cemetery is a credit to the community and that the cemetery meets the needs of the burial site owners and their families. This position may make recommendations to the cemetery operations manager regarding operation, upkeep, and improvement to cemetery operations. The position requires the ability to work independently and be well organized as well as work harmoniously with others. Hourly rate for this position is $16\.00 to $19\.00 per hour. Increases in the rate for this job, once hired, will be at the discretion of the operations manager and shall be based on the employee's length of service in conjunction with attendance record and job performance. **Hours:** Normal working hours are Monday through Friday; 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The work hours for this position are flexible and will be established by management. This position is also paid for a 15\-minute break after two hours of work. **Positions Description:** *Recurring Tasks:* * *Grounds Maintenance:* The *primary* responsibility of this position is to perform, under direction, grounds maintenance*:* * Weed trimming (fenced areas, around all stones, etc.) with powered equipment (i.e. Weed eaters) * Shrub trimming * Trash removal (includes flowers and other debris left by visitors) * Sodding and/or seeding of grave sites * Lawn Mowing with power equipment (i.e. Bob Cat mowers) * *Burial Services:* This position may perform, under direction, activities relative to burial services: * Tamping of grave sites in preparation for laying sod or seeding * Tent set up prior to burial services * Excavations (using hand tools) for cremation remains, baby graves, and grave covers * Grave closings, using skid loader/shovels, ect. * *Cemetery Equipment Maintenance:* This position may perform, under direction, preventative and routine equipment maintenance: * Maintaining serviceability so that equipment is available when needed * Reporting equipment problems to the Cemetery Operations Manager * Servicing equipment in accordance with approved procedures (greasing, fueling from tanks located on cemetery grounds) * *Other:* This position may assist with maintenance of the garage area as well as being assigned routine or other special projects as necessary to maintain the proper functioning and efficiency of the cemetery. This position is also responsible for the correct storage of any equipment and/or hand tools utilized as well as the housekeeping of the employee’s break area and one’s personal locker. * *Required Skills/Licensing:* * Interpersonal skills required to interact with cemetery customers and owners successfully, as well as other Willow View Cemetery personnel * Ability to be trained in the use of and operate safely lawn maintenance related power equipment and related hand operated equipment * Ability to be trained in the use of various other power equipment owned by the cemetery; i.e. skid loader gators * Ohio Motor Vehicle Operators License and related insurance Pay: $16\.00 \- $19\.00 per hour Expected hours: 30\.0 – 40\.0 per week Benefits: * Flexible schedule Work Location: In person
