The Central Family Life Center, Inc. (CFLC) is a 501(c)(3\) non\-profit organization that seeks to improve the lives and environment of Staten Island residents. The mission of The Central Family Life Center is to provide Staten Island individuals, including children, seniors, at\-risk youth, and families of varying backgrounds, with the needed services, programs, and opportunities to improve their overall well\-being. CFLC is committed to reducing health disparities for New Yorkers using an innovative approach to foundational policy, communications, equity, diversity \& inclusion, and partnership work. CFLC has been active in the Staten Island community for 30 years. CFLC serves the community through educational programming, workshops, and direct services designed to empower and improve the lives of the Staten Island Borough's most vulnerable population.
**Job Summary**
Cure Violence initiative works with 16 – 24\-year\-old at\-risk youths who are or may have been involved in street violence, community residents, businesses, and community\-based organizations to implement Cure Violence. Cure Violence is a public health strategy to reduce and prevent shootings and killings. This program will focus on a defined area identified as a “hot spot” in Stapleton, Staten Island. The program works to prevent gun violence by:
1\) mediating conflicts that may end in gun violence
2\) changing the thinking of individuals who are most at risk of being victims or perpetrators of violence
3\) working closely with a broad coalition of local partners to promote a visible community\-wide message that shooting is unacceptable behavior.
The Mobile Trauma Unit (MTU) Coordinator / Grief Counselor will serve as a visible, accessible, and compassionate presence throughout the borough, providing immediate trauma support, community engagement, and access to resources in the wake of violence or community crises. This role supports both the emotional and logistical needs of community members while ensuring the MTU remains a peaceful, welcoming mobile space for healing and connection. The MTU Coordinator will be an integral part of a trauma\-informed team, working closely with the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and the Office to Prevent Gun Violence (ONS) to ensure timely, effective, and data\-informed service delivery.

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:**
Ø **Trauma Response \& Crisis Support:**
* Provide immediate grief and trauma counseling services following violent incidents.
* Coordinate and facilitate mobile trauma responses in impacted communities.
* Ensure the MTU environment promotes peace, safety, and comfort during crisis situations.
Ø **Client Engagement \& Referral:**
* Connect individuals and families to critical services including mental health, trauma care, and social supports.
* Offer mobile office hours and on\-the\-spot assistance to community members.
Ø **Community Outreach \& Relationship Building:**
* Conduct proactive outreach to youth, families, community leaders, businesses, and faith\-based organizations.
* Promote program visibility through regular presence at community events and gatherings.
* Build trust and maintain ongoing communication with local stakeholders and partner agencies.
Ø **Program Coordination \& Compliance:**
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions, services provided, and follow\-ups.
* Track program metrics, performance indicators, and budget\-related activity.
* Submit monthly reports to DYCD/ONS with highlights, challenges, and recommended improvements.
* Document and escalate any incidents occurring on the MTU to the designated point of contact (POC).
Ø **Professional Development \& Strategic Planning:**
* Participate in DYCD/ONS\-coordinated trainings, workshops, and strategic planning meetings.
* Collaborate regularly with internal and external partners to improve outreach and service strategies.
* Continuously assess and adjust service delivery approaches to ensure meaningful and measurable community impact.
**Qualifications**
· Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Public Health, or related field (Master’s preferred)
· Professional counseling experience, preferably in grief/trauma\-informed care
· Experience working in high\-trauma or underserved communities
· Strong crisis intervention and de\-escalation skills
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Commitment to restorative practices and community healing
· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry/reporting systems
**Work Environment, Condition / Physical Effort:**
· This is a mobile, community\-based position requiring frequent travel within the borough.
· Candidate must be comfortable working in outdoor environments and community settings.
· Evening and weekend availability is required based on community needs and incidents.

Pay: $48,000\.00 \- $50,000\.00 per year
