Light Equipment Operator - Cemetery

Description: * Operates a truck and trailer to transport equipment and materials. * Operates a truck and trailer, read\-end loader, or other equipment along a predetermined route to collect refuse. * Operates a tractor with bush hog and other grounds maintenance equipment to mow grass on city rights\-of\-way, in the city cemetery, and on other city properties. * Operates hand and power tools in the performance of ground maintenance duties. * Plans and prunes trees and shrubs. * Operates a backhoe and dump truck to close and open graves in the cemetery. * Maintains radio contact with dispatchers to send and receive information. * Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment; performs pre\- and post\-trip vehicle inspections. * Assists in traffic control at work sites. * Performs related duties. Requirements: * Knowledge of the techniques, equipment, and supplies used in grounds and cemetery maintenance. * Knowledge of city and departmental safety policies and procedures. * Knowledge of the geography of the city, including street names and locations. * Skill in the operation of assigned vehicles, trucks and light equipment. * Skill in prioritizing and organizing work. * Skill in the use of hand and power tools. * Skill in oral and written communication.
