Job Description

Nurses who choose **Hospice of Acadiana** choose to practice at the heart of why they became nurses: seeing the whole person, wrapping families in support, and making every moment count. As Acadiana’s only nonprofit and longest\-serving hospice provider, Hospice of Acadiana cares for anyone in need regardless of ability to pay, driven by a mission to deliver exceptional medical, emotional, social, and spiritual support to patients with advanced or terminal illness—where nurses are central decision\-makers on the interdisciplinary team. Founded in 1983, **Hospice of Acadiana** is deeply rooted in Lafayette and surrounding parishes and is sustained by strong community trust and philanthropy. As an Inpatient Unit RN, you’ll serve at Calcutta House, a purpose\-built 12‑bed hospice house with private rooms, family spaces, a chapel, and peaceful gardens designed for calm, dignified care. Here you’ll practice the full scope of hospice nursing—comprehensive assessments, complex symptom management, plan\-of\-care development, medication administration, and hands\-on support—while counseling and advocating for patients and families. The culture is grounded in five core values—Integrity, Compassion, Care, Creativity, and Commitment—and fosters true team\-based care with experienced hospice clinicians, social workers, chaplains, and grief counselors. Supported by a strong grief and loss program for the community, nurses can see the lasting impact of their care beyond the bedside. If you’re called to be fully present with patients, ease suffering through expert practice, and support families through some of their hardest days in an environment driven by patient needs rather than volume, Hospice of Acadiana invites you to bring both your skills and your heart to the Inpatient Unit Registered Nurse role. **JOB SUMMARY** The Inpatient Unit RN is responsible as a member of the IDT to the IPU Supervisor and the attending physician for the provision of skilled nursing assessment, planning, and care to maximize the comfort and health of patients and families consistent with Hospice of Acadiana, Inc.'s policies and procedures and Louisiana State Board of Nursing. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES** **Patient Care** 1\.
