Hospice Spiritual Counselor

Hospice Spiritual Counselor Everlight Hospice is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Hospice Spiritual Counselor to join our growing interdisciplinary team. This position provides spiritual and emotional support to hospice patients and their families throughout the end\-of\-life journey while ensuring care is delivered in accordance with CMS and Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR). We are looking for someone who is empathetic, patient\-centered, and experienced in hospice care. **Hospice experience is required for this role.** Responsibilities * Provide spiritual care, counseling, and emotional support to hospice patients, families, and caregivers * Assess and document spiritual needs in the EMR in compliance with CMS and OAR standards * Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to support holistic patient care * Offer prayer, spiritual guidance, religious or non\-religious rituals based on patient preferences * Provide grief support and bereavement counseling * Participate in IDG/interdisciplinary meetings * Educate staff and volunteers regarding spiritual care at end of life * Maintain accurate, timely documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance Qualifications * **Minimum 1 years of hospice experience required** * Experience in chaplaincy, pastoral care, spiritual counseling, or grief support * Master’s degree in Theology, Divinity, Pastoral Care, or related field preferred * Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) preferred * Strong understanding of hospice philosophy and end\-of\-life care * Knowledge of Medicare Hospice Benefit and Oregon hospice regulations preferred * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work respectfully with individuals of diverse cultural, spiritual, and religious backgrounds * Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required Preferred Qualifications * Experience with bereavement support and grief counseling * Training in crisis intervention and pastoral care for terminally ill patients * Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply Benefits * Competitive salary * Health insurance for full time * Paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay * Continuing education and professional development opportunities * Supportive interdisciplinary team environment Work Environment This is a field\-based position involving visits to patient homes, assisted living communities, and skilled nursing facilities. Flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, or on\-call support may be required.
