Funeral Service Assistant

Overview The part\-time Funeral Service Assistant position performs a variety of funeral\-service\-related tasks before, during and after funeral/memorial services, viewing/visitation services, committal services and other related but unspecified services under the supervision of the funeral director in charge of the services. Funeral service assistants are under the immediate and direct supervision of the funeral director in charge and/or the manager. This is a unique position to have a meaningful impact on the families that we have a privilege of serving. **Job Responsibilities** * Assist with visitations, funeral, and burial services, which will occur outside of normal business hours on weekends and evenings. * Prepare for services to include delivering and setting up floral arrangements, chairs, photos and other personal keepsakes or mementos of client families; ensure proper care and storage of all these items. * Run errands following services (e.g., floral delivery, dropping off supplies and family items, etc.). * Hand out memorial programs, usher families in/out of the chapel, coordinate lights for video tributes, and adjust music as requested by the funeral director in charge. * Drive funeral home vehicles for services and picking up families. * Greet and receive families as they enter the funeral home/church for funeral services. * Accommodate the needs of the family during a service, burial and/or visitation. * Perform a variety of supportive tasks under the supervision of the funeral director in charge to ensure that all services are conducted in a smooth and well\-planned manner. * Ensure confidentiality of all cases and families we serve. * May be required to perform other related duties as assigned by management. **Experience and Educational Requirements** * Strong roots in the community and/or surrounding area of Billings, MT. * Retired individual looking for part\-time work. * Prior experience as an usher with a church, funeral home, or other industry\-related entity.
