Funeral Home Transport Driver

Job description: As a Farmington Funeral Home transport driver your general function is to transport decedents from their place of death into our care. These places may include hospitals, residences \& assisted living homes. Every other week we are on OMI (Office of Medical Investigator) call. When there is a death that happens outside of medical care, OMI investigates the death. Transport drivers remove the decedent from the scene and bring them into our care. One or two drivers maybe called out depending on the nature of the call, obstacles, weight of the decedent, or other reasons. We will supply all the training and equipment to successfully complete your assignment. Once you arrival at the funeral home there will be necessary paperwork and tasks to complete. The funeral industry is regulated by the State of NM. Attention to detail and completing your task is essential. Schedule and Pay: This position is a contract position (not full or part time). You will be responsible for your own taxes at the end of the year. Drivers are paid $75 if they respond to a call alone or $50 each if two drivers are called out. There are also opportunities for out of town transports that are paid by the mile driven. For example a trip to Albuquerque will pay $125 (this is not required). Other opportunities my include assisting at funerals if we need additional manpower (this is not required). Our drivers make between $500 to $1200 per month depending on how busy we are. During the winter that amount increases due to higher call volume. A transport driver will be the primary driver one week, secondary the next, \& then be off for two weeks (2 weeks on/ 2 weeks off). There may be occasions when you will need to cover another driver’s shift (vacation, sickness, etc.). A driver is on\-call Monday through Friday from 5:00pm to 8:00am. Saturday and Sunday 24 hours. We do not make scheduling accommodations for other employment. Please consider this if you are employed full time. If you receive a call at 4am and you start your full\-time job at 8am, you are required to respond to the call. Also consider where you leave. We have a mandatory response time from time of call to the decedents place of death of 45 minutes (there are some areas that take a little longer). If a call comes in at 7:30am and you need to be at work at 8:00am, we can cover for you. It happens sometimes. Qualifications: \-21 years of age or older \-Valid NM drivers license \-Clean driving record (our insurance company is very picky. NO DWIs) \-No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving fraud or theft. \-Must have a smart phone with good reception. \-Professional appearance. \-Good communication skills \-Be a team player \-Good attitude \-Punctual \-Be in good physical condition. This job requires lifting, pulling and pushing decedents. \-Have stable emotional wellness. \-Ability to work around blood, air and infectious disease.
