Experienced Apprentice Embalmer

**Position Summary** Basham Funeral Care is seeking an experienced Apprentice Embalmer to join our growing team. This position is ideal for an individual who has prior embalming experience and is committed to building a long\-term career in funeral service. The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of the preparation process while working under the supervision of a California Licensed Embalmer in accordance with California Cemetery and Funeral Bureau regulations. We are looking for someone who is professional, compassionate, detail\-oriented, and motivated to continue their education and licensure within the funeral profession. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** **Preparation Room Duties** · Assist with embalming, restoration, dressing, casketing, and cosmetology procedures. · Prepare decedents for visitation, funeral services, cremation, and transportation. · Maintain accurate preparation room records and documentation. · Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and OSHA requirements. · Assist with decedent removals and transfers as needed. · Maintain cleanliness and organization of the preparation room and equipment. · Support licensed embalmers with all preparation\-related tasks. · Ensure respectful and dignified care of decedents at all times. **Additional Responsibilities** · Participate in on\-call rotations as assigned. · Assist funeral home staff during services when needed. · Maintain compliance with all company policies and California regulations. · Continue professional development toward embalmer licensure. **Qualifications** **Required** · Current California Apprentice Embalmer Registration or ability to obtain registration. · Previous embalming or preparation room experience required. · Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. · Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. · Ability to work independently and as part of a team. · Professional appearance and compassionate demeanor. **Preferred** · Currently enrolled in an accredited Mortuary Science Program. · Plans to attend Mortuary College in the future. · Graduate of an accredited Mortuary Science Program. · Experience with restorative art, cosmetology, and decedent preparation. · Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. **Physical Requirements** · Ability to lift, move, and transfer decedents using proper equipment and assistance. · Ability to stand, bend, push, pull, and walk for extended periods. · Ability to work in a preparation room environment with exposure to chemicals and biohazard materials. · Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
