**Decedent Care Specialist**
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Decedent Care Specialist to join our funeral home team. This role is responsible for preparing decedents for services and viewings through dressing, hairstyling, cosmetic application, and presentation care while maintaining dignity and professionalism at all times.
This position is ideal for students pursuing careers in Mortuary Science, cosmetology, or funeral service, and provides valuable hands\-on experience in a respectful and team\-oriented environment.
**Responsibilities:**
* Prepare decedents for visitation and funeral services
* Dress decedents and assist with grooming and presentation
* Apply cosmetics, hairstyling, and restorative appearance techniques
* Maintain cleanliness and organization of preparation areas
* Follow proper sanitation, safety, and handling procedures
* Assist funeral directors and embalming staff as needed
* Work respectfully with families, staff, and vendors
* Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in sensitive situations
* Perform duties efficiently in a fast\-paced and emotionally demanding environment
**Qualifications:**
* Strong attention to detail and professionalism
* Ability to remain calm and work well under pressure
* Compassionate and respectful attitude toward families and decedents
* Comfortable working in a funeral home environment
* Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
* Interest in funeral service, healthcare, cosmetology, or mortuary science preferred
* Previous cosmetology or caregiving experience is a plus, but not required
