We are committed to academic excellence, innovation, integrity, and service. **Position Summary** FINE Mortuary College is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to oversee the institution's financial and administrative operations. This remote leadership position is responsible for directing all accounting and finance functions while providing oversight of human resources, audits, risk management, and information technology. FMC seeks a hands\-on leader who can balance strategic planning with day\-to\-day operational management while ensuring financial stability, regulatory compliance, and organizational effectiveness. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** Financial Management \& Accounting * Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. * Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. * Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections. * Ensure compliance with GAAP. * Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial policies. Audit \& Compliance * Coordinate and manage annual financial audits. * Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors. * Ensure compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and institutional reporting requirements. Human Resources * Oversee payroll administration and employee benefits programs. * Support recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and personnel policies. * Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR regulations. Risk Management * Manage insurance programs and institutional risk mitigation strategies. * Evaluate operational and financial risks and implement appropriate controls. * Support business continuity and compliance initiatives. Information Technology Oversight * Provide administrative oversight for internal and outsourced IT functions. * Coordinate technology planning, cybersecurity awareness, and system improvements. * Work with vendors and stakeholders to ensure technology supports institutional objectives. **Qualifications** Required * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. * 7\-10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience. * Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and audit management. * Experience overseeing multiple business functions. * Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. * Ability to work independently in a remote environment. Preferred * Experience in higher education, nonprofit organizations, or regulated industries. * Experience managing human resources and administrative operations.
