Cemetery Worker II

The City of Ada is accepting applications for the position Cemetery Maintenance Worker II. To lead, oversee and perform a variety skilled and semi\-skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and related service activities for the city's cemeteries; to perform a variety of ground maintenance services including mowing, irrigation, turf and general equipment maintenance; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Lead, organize and review the work of staff. Independently perform the most difficult cemetery maintenance tasks. Perform semi\-skilled and skilled maintenance, construction and repair work in the area of work assigned. Apply herbicides, pesticides and other chemicals in a safe manner. Operate and maintain grounds maintenance and repair equipment. Respond to inquiries and complaints from the public in a tactful manner. Operate a variety of landscaping tools and equipment including backhoes, mowers, trucks and power tools such as chain saws, blowers, welders and weed eaters. Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time and in unfavorable weather conditions. Follow all safety rules and regulations of the division to which assigned. Communicate clearly and concisely. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Field environment; exposure to dust and dirt, hazards associated with operating a motor vehicle, various chemicals including fertilizers and pesticides, toxic materials, contagious herbage diseases including poison oak and inclement weather conditions.
