**Job Overview** We are seeking a dedicated and detail\-oriented Cemetery Sexton to oversee the maintenance and care of our cemetery grounds. This vital role ensures that the cemetery remains a respectful, well\-maintained environment for visitors and loved ones. As a Cemetery Sexton, you will be responsible for grounds upkeep, landscaping, and ensuring all areas are safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. Your work will help honor those laid to rest and provide comfort to families and visitors alike. **Responsibilities** * Perform routine landscaping tasks including mowing lawns, string trimming, trimming shrubs, planting flowers, and maintaining garden beds using hand tools and power tools. * Manage watering of all landscaped areas, promoting healthy growth. * Conduct regular inspections of the grounds to identify and address maintenance needs such as repairing fences, pathways, or headstone foundations. * Maintain cleanliness by removing debris, trash, and fallen leaves from all cemetery areas. * Assist with burials and interments by preparing gravesites and ensuring proper procedures are followed with respect and professionalism. * Operate various equipment safely, including lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other landscaping machinery. * Support horticultural efforts by planting new greenery, caring for existing trees and plants, and ensuring landscape aesthetics are preserved year\-round. **Requirements** * Proven experience in landscape maintenance or gardening; familiarity with horticulture practices is highly desirable. * Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and landscaping equipment safely and efficiently. * Knowledge of lawn care techniques including mowing, edging, fertilizing, and watering. * Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform routine inspections and identify maintenance needs proactively. * Physical stamina to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions; ability to lift heavy objects as needed. * Excellent organizational skills with the ability to follow safety protocols diligently. * Prior experience working with landscaping or gardening professionals is a plus; a background in land management or cemetery operations is beneficial.
