Job Description
**About After.com**
After.com is redefining the funeral industry with transparent, affordable cremation services that families can arrange online in minutes. We're a fast\-growing, internet\-first company with the same licenses and credentials as traditional funeral homes — minus the hidden costs and outdated experience. Our internet\-first experience saves time, money, and energy for what matters—celebrating the life of your loved one.
**About the Role**
As a Case Manager (known internally as a Care Specialist), you're the primary point of contact for families from the moment they reach out through the completion of their loved one's cremation. You'll manage an active caseload, field inbound calls, coordinate logistics, and ensure every family feels guided and cared for — without ever letting operational details slip.
This role is fundamentally operational. It requires emotional intelligence, but emotional intelligence alone won't cut it here. Families are best served by someone who moves cases forward without errors, keeps promises, and maintains composure when volume is high and conversations are hard.
We’re a rapidly growing company expanding into new states, and this position plays a vital role in helping us serve families with dignity, care, and respect.
**Please note:** This is a full\-time, in\-office role, with hours of Monday–Friday, 9am\-6pm.
**What You’ll Do**
* Manage an active caseload from first contact through case completion
* Field inbound calls and outreach to families via phone and text
* Coordinate permits, authorizations, and logistics with Funeral Directors
* Ensure all documents are created, sent, and signed accurately and on time
* Triage support tickets via phone, chat, and email
* Log notes, manage follow\-ups, and maintain CRM accuracy
* Learn and apply state\-specific laws governing cremation and funeral services
* Order death certificates and assist with administrative case needs
**You Might Thrive In This Role If You...**
* Get energy from crossing things off a list — you like momentum, throughput, and a busy day
* Handle emotionally heavy conversations without carrying them home
* Have worked in a high\-volume, fast\-paced environment
* Treat process and consistency as features, not constraints
* Can hold compassionate space for a grieving family and then immediately move to the next task without losing either
* Are tech\-comfortable and quick to learn new systems
**This Role Might Not Be Right For You If...**
* You find it hard to emotionally detach after difficult conversations
* You prefer slower\-paced environments where you can go deep on fewer tasks
* You're drawn to this role primarily because of personal experience with loss
**What We’re Looking For**
* 1\+ years of customer service experience
* Strong organizational and time management skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication
* Ability to de\-escalate and communicate with empathy under pressure
* Tech\-savvy — comfortable with CRMs, communication tools, and learning new platforms
* High\-volume funeral home experience is a plus
Our office is located on a quiet campus with fantastic amenities, including a gym, delicious food trucks several times a week, access to the Murdock Trail, bike rentals and more.
We are excited to welcome a new Care Specialist to our Care Team at After.com. If you are interested in joining us in our mission to revolutionize the funeral industry, please apply now.

* Paid time off
* 401k with match
* **Work Location:** Fully in\-office (Orem, UT)
