Administrative Assistant 1 - Temp, Iowa Veterans Cemetery

**Job Description** ------------------- **This is a non\-merit, temporary position.** **Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements** **of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services \- Human Resources Enterprise.** The Department of Veterans Affairs is looking for a temporary Administrative Assistant 1 to work at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery (IVC) in Van Meter, conveniently located along Interstate 80, west of Des Moines. This person will serve as the first point of contact for veterans, their families and funeral directors. Duties include but not limited to: * Answer incoming phone calls. * Receive requests and prepare responses for information related to internments. * Prepare family packet and temporary marker. * Assist with general cleaning of IVC front office area. **E\-Verify and Right to Work** The State of Iowa participates in E\-Verify, a federal program that helps employers confirm the employment eligibility of all newly hired employees.
